Went back to look at those C1 coaches today. Video I shot came out terribly choppy - will have to reshoot so I can edit into something passable
Coal soot like a boss.
I rode “Hank the Tank”, also known as Flagg Coal #75 at the Railroad Museum of New England today. I plan on writing a legitimate post about it (REMIND ME IF YOU DON’T SEE IT IN ABOUT THREE DAYS), but here’s a picture of coal dust/soot/whatever you want to call it settled on my arm on our return trek to the station in Thomaston.
I was told to wear it as a badge of honor - and it was nice to see Emily (of I Ride the Harlem Line - GO READ HER BLOG, IT IS FANTASTIC…OKAY?) and Otto again. I originally met them at National Train Day in New York last month.
Like I said, a legitimate post is planned - I just wanted to put something up. All the pictures can be found here - and it should be noted that I could not find my real camera today…don’t ask…so these were shot ENTIRELY on my phone. I effing LOVE the camera on my new phone. The HTC Evo 4G LTE is fantastic.
That is a rant for my actual blog, not here…so keep your eyes peeled for the legitimate post & enjoy the pictures on Flickr.
Yes, I know, I still haven’t written a legit post about Steam on the Naugy, like I promised. However, while I continue to procrastinate, watch this video about the steam engine, the people who restored it…and a little bit about the Naugatuck Railroad.
Stupid me didn’t see that this was posted to YouTube about three months ago - I watched it to see if I was in it, as there were filming notices taped up everywhere last weekend. Obviously the footage from this was shot last year.
This is a video of the return trip to the station in Thomaston on Flagg Coal 75 last Sunday.
Keep your eyes peeled - there’s some cool old stuff to be seen when we go by the RMNE shop.
